July 2nd (Topeka Zoo)

First stop lunch at El Mez in Lawrence. Haven't eaten here in 10 years or more. And it is still good!! All the memories of college.
Naismith Hall were I lived as a freshmen!!

Fun KU campus quick little drive through even though they were doing a lot of construction.
Now its time to go to Topeka!!
The Zoo started out awesome, but then we learned they are fixing some stuff and some animals couldn't be seen. Well at least there were some animals and the zoo is smaller which helps in this heat!!

The giraffes were super close.

The orangutan exhibit...there was a baby!!

Strange man that worked there but he got the ape to come over.
Lemurs.
Hippo.
A big huge tire to play on!
And a huge log to stand on.
A fun playground made of wood and sticks.

Very cool Zoo car.
This tube went underground and went back out another side. Super fun.
My favorite exhibit was the bears. You can really see them and not any of the zoos around here have bears. We even saw one up a super high tree.

Is that cool or what. It eventually got down by themselves.

Coyote hanging in the shade.
Going into the rain Forrest.
I can't believe they had bats inside that could just fly around...crazy and cool.
Pretty waterfall.

Turtles.

These beautiful macaws were super close to us.

After the zoo we hit up Gage Park across the street.

This zoo is awesome with all the animal statues.

 This park is huge.
 Zipline perfect for Ella's height.

 All of us swinging together.

This cute train will give you rides for just $1.50. We were too hot so we had already left.
Last stop Spangles for some ice cream yumminess!
Oreo sundae...this was super yummy.

And we got a strawberry milkshake...delicious also.

What a fun, hot family day again!
So thankful for these days together...hopefully this heat stops!!
