We got up and ready. Ate breakfast!
Time to drive about an hour or so to New Orleans!
Lego Head on the car. Lol.
I see a sign!Cool bridge we are going over.
I see the city.
1st stop The Cemetary No. 1! Tour time...you have to buy tickets now since people vandalized it in 2020. Now it was a tad bit hotter here, I mean swampy feeling! And the sun was so HOT!
This is Nicholas Cage's tomb he bought a very long time ago, while filming here in New Orleans. He also bought two more sights around the us...so no one knows where he will be buried! Ha.
Very old!
This place is amazing! Reminds me of "The Originals Show"! We couldn't get into where they filmed, that cemetery is now closed down to the public.
Our tour guide, got funnier as we went along and had a lot of historic knowledge of the cemetery along with New Orleans! His accent was the best.
So many!
Crazy that this is a cemetery.
We are dying of the heat, time to head over to Cafe Du Monde!
Storm is a coming.
I have been dreaming about coming here forever!
Beinets are amazing!! I got 3 orders, Nick said-"Is that too much?"...um no we ate them all! Ha. Nick got a cold/slush coffee...said it was good.
Adelyn loved them too.
I was worried I was going to inhale the powder sugar!
It started to rain, then POUR!!! Ugh!
We went to a couple of shops right nearby hoping the rain would stop!
Interesting ornaments.
Well it wouldn't stop raining so Nick ran and got the umbrella for Addie and I bought Ella and I ponchos. (Nick ended up getting one a few mins later!) It was raining a lot!
Cleared up for a sec and we got to see the beautiful church!
(We went to find movie sites around from The Original's Show-this is one plus a bench in front)
A bench like this one, Adelyn and I tried to find the one with the plaque but with all the rain we couldn't!
Nick found us a restaurant to go eat at, which was just a 20 min walk. Oh geez! It had good reviews, but I have never seen so many restaurants on every street in my life!! Crazy how many bars, restaurants and shops in a small radius!
Running down Bourbon Street! Not many people since it was raining!
Finally we got here! Ugh! This place better be good.
We got red beans and rice, soft shell crab sandwich, a variety appetizer, and shrimp creole to try a bunch of different items!
I actually love the red beans and rice! I love shrimp creole at home, and this one was good as well!
Soft shell crab sandwich for Addie, plus she shared! It was yummy.
Daddy got her to try something from his platter, Alligator! She wasn't very happy.
Figuring it out.
And low and behold the weather moved out and it was sunny!
I wanted to get on the streetcar here but Nick said no we can get on it closer to the car. This was for Ella since she didn't get to do a lot of fun things!
We could have gotten on here!! Instead, we walked more than 20 mins to get back to our car!
We did pop into some more shops for Souvenir's. And my favorite was looking at all the buildings, beautiful!!
All the colorful buildings!
Iconic building!
Another spot of the Originals filming spot!
Adelyn and I wanted to do a tour but since we didn't stay here we weren't going to be able to.
(Ella's new wheelchair came in handy when with all this walking, she didn't smile though!)
Another spot for filming.
Another filming area.
Huge place they filmed at in the show, we wished it was opened and we could have gone into this area!
Brick sidewalks! So cool.
Look what we found!
Voodoo Dolls everywhere.
Got a picture now that it's not raining.
Luckily and unluckily, we found the Streetcar by our car.
We later found out it didn't go far at all, ugh!
Ella loved it.
Hot and sweaty!!
Ready to go back to the Airbnb and take a much needed shower!
On our way I thought we should get smoothie king, and there was one literally right next to us where we drove. So, we got into the tiniest drive thru and got some much-needed smoothie to cool us down! We also grabbed pizza and cheese sticks on our way home from a New York Style pizza place in Bay St. Louis! It was really good! We all got showers and relaxed the rest of the night!
I will say New Orleans isn't very family friendly, dirty and lots of homeless! Glad we didn't go during Mardi Gras-that would have been horrible! Glad we went though to see it, 1 and done!
